“This week deliveries from Spain are proceeding as usual. We are getting offers from suppliers, we are making purchases, so Spanish meat reaches Lithuania, but we notice that the situation may change following next week. We are receiving warnings from suppliers about next week’s working time adjustments, work capacity reductions, and some suppliers announce that they will be out of production, so we see that the situation is really serious. Corona virus quarantine and new illnesses are reducing the logistics workforce, leading to a shortage of drivers. Due to the decrease in production and supply, the price of Spanish pork is forecasted to rise, as a result of which meat will become more expensive in Lithuania as well. As long as we can, we are working at full capacity and trying to make sure, that Lithuania would not run short on meat – said Laurynas Zimblys, Director of Commerce at JSC Baltic Foods”.
