During the ten months of this year, Lithuanian producers exported more than 19 thousand Lithuanian foodstuffs and other consignments of animal origin, which is 14%. more than in the same period last year. Such data are shown by the statistics compiled by the specialists of the State Food and Veterinary Service (SFVS).
“In addition to sales of fish and its products, dairy products, which in recent months accounted for the largest share of food sector exports, our country’s companies actively sell fresh meat, especially beef, poultry, as well as various offal, culinary products, pet food is also popular in foreign markets. Despite the crisis that was caused by the coronavirus, the export results of Lithuanian products are growing in all three quarters of this year. It only confirms that our country’s companies are well established in international markets and can compete successfully even in such challenges. I am also very grateful to the SFVS specialists, especially those carrying out state controls on farms, slaughterhouses, processing plants, certifying export consignments, who understand the importance for companies to remain competitive in international markets and export their products, even in the unfavorable epidemiological situation of COVID-19, they work with full strength , ”commented Darius Remeika, Director of the SFVS.
In October of this year, fish and fish products were exported 1.5 thousand tons more (12.9 thousand tons). Lithuanian producers have also successfully expanded the export of fresh meat, as evidenced almost doubling beef export (267 t) and almost 1.5-fold increase in poultry exports (1,051 t), as well as a slight increase in pork sales (52 t).The main Lithuanian food markets remain the EU, followed by Ukraine, the USA, Israel, Uzbekistan, China and other countries.
